Employee Highlight: Celebrating 22 years W&G Employee Bill Goodman!

Employee Highlight: Celebrating 22-years W&G Employee Bill Goodman!

Q: When did you join W&G?  When will you retire?

A: I joined W&G in April 1999 and will be retiring on March 31, 2021 (22 yrs).  I have been a CPA for 42 yrs.

Q: What did you love about your job?

A: I love accounting and have tried to use my business acumen to help W&G be a more profitable entity.  I am very proud of the growth of W&G's 401k/profit sharing plan.  The plan was established in 1994, and its performance has "bested" all the stock market indexes, nearly every year since 1994.

Q: Name one W&G memory that makes you smile or laugh.

A: It was a very sad day when we lost Attorney Mike Pross, but I smile daily when I think of how we are still helping his wife and daughter with their COBRA insurance needs and how Mike’s 401k is still growing with their W&G 401k investment options.

Q: Name one job accomplishment that makes you proud.

A: Every Trust Audit done by the NC Bar has been graded as "excellent", including the last audit done in December 2020.

Q: Name one thing about W&G that you will miss.

A: The people, particularly Mona Lisa Wallace and Bill Graham.  Mona is a very demanding leader, but I respect that.  She challenges me to do my best work, and I put forth my best effort to accommodate her.  I will also miss Bill Graham and all the accounting staff I have worked with over the years.  Without their support, I could not have accomplished many of the tasks I was asked to do.

Q: What are you the most looking forward to in retirement?

A: That's easy:  spending more time with my 4 boys and their families.  I know over the years, my wife, Elizabeth, was doing most of the work at home while I was busy away from home at work.  She deserves a gold star of the highest order.

Q: What single piece of advice would you give to your W&G replacement?

A: Never say "it's not my job".  And most importantly, be available to assist the owners with their financial & business concerns and do so in a timely manner.

Thank you so much to Bill Goodman for 22 years of tireless work for our firm! We are so lucky to have had you in our office and we are forever grateful for your time spent with us.
